Sberbank CEO says Russia must toughen data leak liability
ANOSINO, Moscow Region, Oct 11 (PRIME) -- Russia must make responsibility for banks’ clients data leaks more severe, CEO of Sberbank German Gref told reporters on Friday.
“We have fulfilled, of course, a set of measures, it is both technical and legal. Both internally and externally. Of course, we must firstly significantly increase responsibility for these crimes, they are a social danger of such a degree that they must be assessed differently,” Gref said.
“Of course, we must extend the list of crimes in the Criminal Code. We need to change the criminal proceedings law,” Gref said.
Sberbank admitted leakage of personal data of at least 200 customers on October 3, after media reports. Sellers said that they owned data on 60 million credit cards, both valid and closed. An employee of the bank was later detained, and confessed.
